Uniforms
- Uniforms must be tucked in, tidy and clean at all times.
- Students are not allowed to wear hats of any kind while in the building.
- Students are not allowed to wear non-RVS sweaters/sweat shirts.
- Please label everything your child brings to school.
- Be sure to send outerwear that is appropriate for all weather conditions.
Please watch for emailed requests from the classroom teachers and check the online RVS master calendar for requiring changes to the uniform.

What about Footwear?
Students are required to have one (1) pair of black shoes (must be full black with no obvious logos) and one (1) pair of non-marking running shoes for the gymnasium.
Kids Club
Before & After School Care
Our before and after school program operates Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 6 PM from September to June. Our little Kids Club (age 3 – 5) and Big Kids Club (grades 1-6) are both Alberta Child Care Accredited programs owned and operated by River Valley school. Childcare is provided by highly qualified and certified staff and overseen by a Kids Club Coordinator.
Please note: Kids Club Before & After School Care is only available to registered RVS Students.

Busing & Shuttle Services
River Valley School offers three bus routes that service specific communities in the SW, Central and NW quadrants of the city. Please note that families outside these areas are welcome to use stops on any of these routes if it is convenient for their purpose.
Looking for a quick and convenient after school pick up? Avoid the busy parking lot and utilize our RVS Shuttle Service and pick up at our Monserrat Drive location or Nursery Superstore location

First Day of School – What to Expect
Students are encouraged to wear their formal uniform for the first day of school
We will continue with our “curb-side” drop-off; A quick hug and a kiss at drop-off will help nervous children more than a prolonged goodbye
Please have your child bring:
- A re-fillable water bottle
- Black indoor shoes and non-marking athletic runners for the gym
- A “paint shirt” when things get creative and messy
- An full extra set of clothing (for Pre-JK to K students)
- All school supplies are provided by the school
- Please label EVERYTHING!
Don’t forget, it’s OK for kids (and parents!) to be anxious about the first day of school. We will get through any nerves and tears together!
Pick-up & Drop-off
Student safety is always a concern for school staff, but keeping children safe in the parking lot requires the cooperation of everyone – from school staff to drivers and the students themselves. Thank you for your continued cooperation and patience on this matter.
