Additional Fees

Registration Fee – New Students

A one-time, non-refundable Registration Fee is required for all new students at the time of enrolment. This fee is charged as a membership fee to the River Valley School Society and helps support capital improvements, campus enhancements, and the long-term sustainability of the school.

Registration Fees:

  • $7,500 – Early Learning Program (Pre-Junior Kindergarten & Junior Kindergarten)
  • $5,000 – Kindergarten to Grade 6

Student Account Fee

A non-refundable Student Account Fee of $475 per student is due annually on June 1 or at the time of late enrolment. This fee supports classroom supplies, technology, STEAM programming, field trips, and specialist programming. Transportation, before- and after-school care, and uniforms are not included.

Early Learning Program

Families enrolled in the Early Learning Program participate in the Alberta Child Care Affordability Grant. For the 2026–2027 school year, the total parent-payable tuition is $3,262.50 (based on $326.25 per month). Sibling discounts do not apply. Grant rates are set by the Government of Alberta and may change at any time. If the program is discontinued, tuition will revert to River Valley School’s standard rate for the remainder of the school year.

Kids Club (Before & After School Care) Fees

Kids Club services are available to students currently enrolled at River Valley School, from Pre-Junior Kindergarten through Grade 6. Enrolment is supported through staffing and licensing adjustments wherever possible; however, participation remains subject to Alberta Child Care Licensing capacity requirements and staff-to-student ratios.

Student Withdrawal Policy:

No refund or reduction in any amount deemed non-refundable as outlined above shall be applied at any time.

If a student is withdrawn from River Valley School at any time—including prior to the start of the school year—or if a student is absent, relocates or changes residence, is suspended, transferred, expelled, or otherwise ceases attendance for any reason, all outstanding tuition fees remain payable. If River Valley School is required to close, suspend in-person instruction, or transition to online or distance learning due to a force majeure event—including, but not limited to, a pandemic, epidemic, fire, flood, act of God, governmental action, or state of emergency—no reduction shall apply to any outstanding tuition fees.

River Valley School requires one (1) month’s written notice, or payment in lieu of notice, for student withdrawal. Tuition remains payable for the full notice period.

Child Care Affordability Grant

River Valley School participates in the Alberta Child Care Affordability Grant, helping make exceptional early learning more accessible for families.

Children enrolled in our Pre-Junior Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten programs (100+ hours per month) are eligible for the grant. As of April 1, 2025, eligible families pay just $326.25 per month, regardless of household income. The grant is applied automatically, so no additional application is required.

Please note that funding is provided through the Canada-Alberta Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CACWELCC) agreement. If the agreement is not renewed by the Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada, families would be responsible for the full tuition rate.

International Students

Please Note: We do not offer boarding or a homestay program, students must be living with their own parents/legal guardians.

International students who are not eligible for Alberta Education funding are required to pay an International Student Fee in addition to the School’s published tuition and other applicable fees. This fee helps offset the provincial funding not available to international students and supports the additional administrative, educational, and student support services that may be required to assist students in successfully transitioning and integrating into the Canadian education system.

For the 2026–2027 school year, the International Student Fee is $13,500. Registration fees, Student Account Fees, transportation fees, Kids Club fees, and other optional program fees are additional and are not included in the International Student Fee.
