Overview
River Valley School is an independent school offering an exceptional, one-of-a-kind early childhood and elementary school experience from Pre-JK (Age 3) to Grade 6. We are a growing school of approximately 250 students situated in a beautiful riverside campus in in the heart of northwest Calgary.
Drawing from the best educational pedagogies, we facilitate experiences that inspire and support academic excellence, exploration, creativity and student well-being. The wonder children possess is encouraged, stimulated and celebrated through our inquiry-based programming where learning is driven by big ideas and big questions; all within a warn, nurturing and innovative environment.
Beyond the enriched core subjects, River Valley School also offers a robust offering of specialist programs including Art, Drama, Music, French Language, Outdoor Education, Physical Education and Library; starting as early as age 3!
Our before and after school program offers a safe, caring environment for children ages 3 to grade 6 from 7 AM to 6 PM Mondays through Fridays year-round. We also offer busing services to our students that service specific communities in the SW, Central and NW quadrants of the city.

All of our classes operate with a low student to teacher ratio which maximizes instructional time and supports the personalization of learning.
River Valley School employs 15 full-time Educational Assistants to support teaching and learning through one-on-one and small group work.
We offer a robust offering of specialist programs for ALL students including art, drama, music, French, outdoor and physical education and library; all starting at age three!
